Worked on enhancing the testability and reliability of the HTTP client retry strategy within the snowflake-ingest-java repository. Focused on Java-based improvements, the developer delivered comprehensive unit tests covering retry limits, backoff mechanisms, and 503 error handling, ensuring more robust validation of retry logic. The test suite was refactored for better organization and clarity, which aids maintainability and onboarding for future contributors. Internal helpers such as MAX_RETRIES and getServiceUnavailableRetryStrategy were exposed to facilitate more thorough testing. This work prioritized feature and testability enhancements over bug fixes, reducing regression risk and enabling safer, faster feedback cycles for future code changes.
