Developed a backend-selectable model interaction feature for the snowflakedb/snowflake-cli repository, focusing on enhancing the Cortex CLI’s flexibility and reliability. The work introduced a --backend option, allowing users to switch seamlessly between SQL and REST interfaces, and refactored the complete command to leverage the updated snowflake.core APIs. Using Python and Snowflake, the implementation improved REST API error handling, providing clearer diagnostics and a more robust user experience. Default model and backend settings were updated to streamline onboarding and minimize misconfiguration. The project emphasized API integration and CLI development, resulting in a more adaptable and developer-friendly command-line tool.
