Developed and delivered OpenTelemetry gRPC metrics integration for the Snowflake-Labs/sansshell server, focusing on enhancing observability and performance monitoring for server-side gRPC calls. The work involved integrating OpenTelemetry’s gRPC stats handler and updating Go module dependencies to enable the collection and exposure of detailed metrics, such as latency, throughput, and error rates. By leveraging Go, gRPC, and observability best practices, this feature provided improved visibility into server behavior, supporting SLA tracking and proactive troubleshooting. The implementation enables teams to monitor and optimize server performance more effectively, laying the groundwork for robust monitoring and operational excellence within the Sansshell project.
