Worked on enhancing data governance in the dbt-labs/dbt-adapters repository by implementing Snowflake COPY TAGS support, closely mirroring the existing COPY GRANTS behavior. This involved updating configuration options and SQL macros to allow granular tag copying during table creation and cloning, ensuring consistent metadata propagation across Snowflake-backed workflows. The approach included developing functional tests in Python and SQL to validate correct behavior and prevent regressions. The work focused on back end development, data engineering, and testing, resulting in improved usability and tagging consistency for Snowflake datasets. No major bugs were addressed, as efforts centered on feature delivery and robust test coverage.
