During November 2024, work focused on enhancing the apache/atlas project’s stability and security by upgrading the Spring Framework dependency to version 5.3.39. This effort addressed a critical vulnerability in the Spring 5.3.x line, improving the project’s security posture without introducing new user-facing features. The process involved thorough CI validation and code review to ensure compatibility and prevent regressions, as well as updating documentation to clarify the rationale and outline future upgrade considerations. The work demonstrated proficiency with Java, dependency management, and continuous integration practices, emphasizing careful risk mitigation and long-term maintainability within a large-scale open source environment.
