In December 2024, Sam Mabert focused on enhancing observability for the bloom-housing/bloom repository by implementing Datadog tracing integration across the application. Leveraging backend development and DevOps skills with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, Sam introduced a new tracer configuration and updated environment templates to enable end-to-end tracing. This integration provided detailed performance monitoring and cross-environment visibility, supporting both public and partner sites. By establishing baseline observability metrics, Sam’s work enabled faster issue diagnosis and more effective performance analysis across deployments. The depth of the implementation ensured consistent tracing and monitoring capabilities throughout the application’s various environments.
