In May 2025, Scott Schlafman developed hardware platform support for the Nvidia SN4280 within the sonic-net/sonic-buildimage repository. He introduced a new hardware SKU by creating platform-specific device profiles and port configurations, leveraging skills in hardware and network device configuration. Using INI and Jinja2, Scott integrated the SN4280 into the existing build pipeline by adding directories and symlinks that aligned with established platform workflows. This work streamlined the onboarding process for SN4280 devices, reduced setup time, and expanded the system’s hardware coverage. The depth of integration ensured that new devices could be deployed efficiently within the SONiC ecosystem.
