Stuart Stone enhanced security policy management for the LBHackney-IT/Data-Platform repository by consolidating security group rules using Infrastructure as Code principles. He removed explicit inbound HTTP and HTTPS rules from the Qlik Sense security group, shifting responsibility for internet traffic management to the custodian service. This approach reduced rule duplication and minimized the platform’s attack surface, while simplifying ongoing maintenance and future policy changes. Stuart implemented these changes using Terraform, leveraging his expertise in cloud security to centralize policy control and decommission redundant rules. The work demonstrated a focused, in-depth application of cloud security and infrastructure automation within a production environment.
