Sun Shuang developed OpenGauss database integration across multiple microservices in the opea-project/GenAIComps and GenAIExamples repositories. Over two months, Sun enabled OpenGauss as the primary backend for dataprep and retriever services, supporting ingestion, document management, and vector-based similarity search. The work included Docker configuration, health checks, and comprehensive deployment documentation, improving reliability and onboarding. In GenAIExamples, Sun added OpenGauss vector database support for ChatQnA, delivering end-to-end integration with Docker Compose and automated testing. Using Python, YAML, and Docker, Sun’s contributions enhanced scalability and production readiness, demonstrating depth in backend development, database management, and microservices architecture.
December 2025: Delivered OpenGauss vector database support for ChatQnA in GenAIExamples. Implemented end-to-end integration with a deployment guide, Docker Compose configurations, and a test script to validate integration with microservices. No major bugs fixed this month. This work expands storage options, enhances scalability for ChatQnA, and strengthens deployment reliability across the microservice stack.

November 2025: Delivered OpenGauss integration across GenAIComps core microservices, enabling OpenGauss as the primary database for dataprep (ingestion and document management) and extending retriever to support OpenGauss-backed vector operations and similarity searches. Implemented Docker/config updates, health checks, and comprehensive setup/usage documentation across both services to improve reliability and developer onboarding. These changes position the platform for scalable data ingestion, faster retrieval, and production readiness with a unified database.
