Developed and delivered the Unknown Tool Call Forwarding feature for the kvcache-ai/sglang repository, focusing on enhancing backend reliability and integration resilience. The implementation introduced a configurable mechanism, controlled via an environment variable, to forward calls to unknown tools rather than dropping them, thereby maintaining backward compatibility for existing workflows. Comprehensive tests were added to validate the forwarding behavior when enabled, increasing regression safety and reducing operational risk. The work was carried out using Python and emphasized backend development and testing practices. This update addressed the risk of dropped tool calls, supporting more robust downstream automation and tool integration scenarios.
