In January 2025, Sharon developed SMBPROFILE-based observability for Ceph-backed SMB operations in the redox-os/samba repository. She implemented profiling for asynchronous read, write, and fsync paths in Samba’s VFS Ceph module, introducing new timing and state management structures that integrate with the existing profiling framework. Using C and system programming skills, Sharon enabled detailed performance metrics for non-blocking I/O, allowing for data-driven analysis and faster diagnosis of I/O bottlenecks. Her work focused on asynchronous I/O and performance profiling, providing end-to-end visibility into SMB I/O paths and laying the groundwork for ongoing performance improvements in Ceph-backed environments.

January 2025: Delivered SMBPROFILE-based observability for Ceph-backed SMB operations in Samba (VFS Ceph). Implemented profiling for asynchronous read, write, and fsync paths, with new timing/state management structures and helpers that integrate with the existing profiling framework to provide actionable performance metrics.
