Developed an in-app warning mechanism for the juanfont/headscale repository to enhance configuration safety and visibility around IP prefix usage. The work centered on implementing an ASCII-art warning banner that alerts users at startup when non-standard IPv4 or IPv6 prefixes are detected, reducing the risk of misconfiguration. Leveraging Go for backend development, a reusable warnBanner function was introduced to centralize and streamline critical configuration warnings, supporting future extensibility. Documentation was updated to clarify acceptable IP ranges and provide guidance on avoiding misconfigurations, ensuring alignment between runtime behavior and user instructions. Visual consistency improvements were also made to the warning display.
