During March 2025, Sheng Tang developed foundational National Park data surface capabilities by building dedicated servers and integrating the National Park Service API across the punkpeye/awesome-mcp-servers and modelcontextprotocol/servers repositories. Using skills in API integration, server development, and documentation, Sheng consolidated park data—such as alerts, visitor centers, campgrounds, hiking trails, and events—into unified programmatic endpoints. This approach reduced data silos and enabled downstream applications to access authoritative park information efficiently. Sheng’s work, primarily using Markdown for documentation, improved onboarding and data reliability, laying the groundwork for faster delivery of park-related features and more maintainable infrastructure across both repositories.
