Over a two-month period, contributed backend features to the Shopify/rails and basecamp/rails repositories, focusing on code clarity and standards compliance. Enhanced the Shopify/rails onboarding experience by updating the Getting Started guide and refactored inventory checks to use idiomatic Ruby patterns, improving maintainability and readability. In basecamp/rails, implemented RFC 9110-aligned HTTP request safety predicates, introducing methods to classify requests as safe or unsafe, which standardized request handling across controllers and middleware. All work was delivered with clear documentation and commit messages, leveraging Ruby on Rails, Ruby, and Markdown to ensure consistent, maintainable code and improved developer onboarding and security posture.
