Worked on enhancing background download reliability for the streamyfin/streamyfin repository by implementing a robust wake-lock strategy within the DownloadService. Focused on Android development using Kotlin and XML, the approach involved acquiring and releasing both wake and wifi locks during download operations to prevent device sleep interruptions. Updated the AndroidManifest.xml to include the necessary WAKE_LOCK permission, ensuring proper background execution. Collaborated with other contributors to refine the lock lifecycle, reducing user-visible failures and minimizing retry frequency. The work addressed power management challenges in background scenarios, resulting in more dependable downloads and an improved user experience for Android applications.
