Worked on enhancing process termination reliability in the aws-greengrass-nucleus repository by addressing a bug related to Unix-like shutdown procedures. Focused on hardening the termination sequence, the update ensured that after all child processes were terminated, the parent process received a SIGTERM signal, reducing the risk of lingering or mis-targeted processes. This approach validated that only active processes were targeted during shutdown, improving overall system safety. The work leveraged Java and deep knowledge of Unix systems and process management, emphasizing robust error handling. The contribution addressed issue #1668 and was delivered as a targeted bug fix rather than a new feature.
