Developed a privacy-focused enhancement for direct messaging in the louislam/uptime-kuma repository, implementing gift-wrapped events according to the NIP-59 standard. This feature was designed to reduce metadata leakage and strengthen user privacy, aligning with the product’s goals of security and trust. The work involved back end development using Node.js and JavaScript, with careful attention to code quality and maintainability. The implementation included clear, testable paths and prepared the system for feature flags and staged rollouts, ensuring that privacy improvements could be introduced without disrupting existing messaging performance or compromising operational readiness for future privacy-related features.
