During August 2025, T.J. focused on enhancing mathematical rendering in the typst/typst repository by implementing new fraction rendering styles, including vertical, skewed, and horizontal layouts. This work involved a thoughtful refactor of the layout engine in Rust to support these styles, ensuring consistent rendering paths and improved fidelity across mathematical expressions. T.J. also updated the handling of parentheses around fraction components and developed comprehensive tests to validate the new features. Leveraging skills in compiler development and math rendering, T.J. delivered a robust foundation for richer equation layouts and future extensibility, demonstrating depth in both design and implementation.
