
During two months on the MedMemo/medmemo-app repository, Tuo developed backend and frontend features focused on clinical transcript summarization and AI-driven article discovery. He built a Flask-based /summarize endpoint integrating Bio_ClinicalBERT for entity extraction and OpenAI for concise summaries, reducing manual note processing and improving extraction accuracy. Tuo implemented environment-aware API key handling, upgraded the OpenAI client, and enabled transformers-based summarization. He also delivered OCR-enabled article retrieval, PubMed scraping, and multi-environment frontend configuration using JavaScript and Python. His work included repository maintenance, documentation, and code quality improvements, resulting in a more robust, maintainable, and collaborative engineering workflow.

Also completed Dev Environment Setup and Repository Maintenance, standardizing virtual environment naming in the README and ensuring the local main branch stays synchronized with remote changes to improve developer onboarding and collaboration.
