
Over nine months, contributed to the thunderbird/thunderbird-l10n repository by modernizing localization workflows and migrating legacy strings to the Fluent localization system. Focused on improving internationalization and accessibility across the Thunderbird UI, this work included migrating calendar, search, account creation, and filter components from DTD and PluralForm.sys.mjs to Fluent, enhancing translation consistency and maintainability. Leveraged JavaScript, FTL, and UI/UX design skills to implement Russian localization, introduce plural forms, and add ARIA attributes for accessibility. These efforts reduced translation maintenance, streamlined onboarding for new locales, and established a scalable foundation for future internationalization and localization enhancements across the project.
June 2026: Fluent localization migration across Thunderbird UI in thunderbird/thunderbird-l10n. Completed six-part migration across Mail, Folders, and Calendar components, migrating UI strings and dialogs to Fluent across mailnews UI, tag/UI labels, charset titles, virtualFolder properties, folder properties, calendar summaries, and calendar item summaries. This work improves internationalization coverage, reduces localization maintenance, and enables faster translation cycles for future releases.
