Developed a user-experience enhancement for the zed-industries/zed repository by implementing middle-click functionality in the Project Panel, allowing files to open directly in permanent tabs and bypassing the default preview tab behavior. This feature was built using Rust and focused on event handling and UI development to streamline navigation and improve workflow efficiency. The implementation ensured compatibility with existing preview-tab logic and included updates to both documentation and release notes to clarify the new interaction. Manual testing was completed on Windows, with plans for cross-platform validation. No major bugs were addressed during this period, reflecting a targeted, feature-driven contribution.
