Venkatesh Kamthane developed embedded data sources support for the dagster-io/dagster repository, focusing on enhancing Tableau integration by expanding the metadata collected for workbooks and sheets. He implemented logic in Python and leveraged Dagster’s data engineering capabilities to recognize and process embedded sources, enabling richer data lineage and more accurate asset representation. This work addressed the challenge of tracing upstream tables and databases within Tableau assets, laying the foundation for broader metadata-driven asset management. Over the month, Venkatesh concentrated on API integration and ETL workflows, delivering a feature with depth that improved the platform’s ability to manage complex data relationships.
