Worked on the godaddy/serde repository to deliver a Rust edition compatibility upgrade, updating all relevant Cargo.toml files and the README from Rust 2018 to 2021. This effort focused on aligning the project with current Rust development practices, ensuring compatibility with the latest toolchains, and improving the reliability of test suites. The work involved careful build system configuration and Rust development, with attention to documentation consistency and repository hygiene. By standardizing edition references across project files, the update established a maintainable baseline for future Rust toolchain changes, reducing technical debt and streamlining onboarding for new contributors. Markdown was also utilized.
