Developed and released the Changed Files Detector GitHub Action for the Automattic/vip-actions repository, enabling CI pipelines to intelligently skip builds when only irrelevant files are modified. This solution leveraged Bash scripting, YAML configuration, and pattern matching to support flexible allow and deny rules, directly reducing compute time and accelerating pull request feedback cycles. Additionally, addressed a bug in the action’s output mapping, improving the reliability and stability of CI workflows. The work demonstrated a focus on optimizing continuous integration processes and maintaining robust automation, with careful attention to both feature delivery and the resolution of critical reliability issues.
