During June 2026, work focused on enhancing the buildkite/elastic-ci-stack-for-aws repository by developing a backward-compatible feature for the Buildkite Agent Scaler. This involved introducing a jitter parameter to the scaler event schedule, allowing API polling to be staggered and thereby reducing load and improving reliability across environments. The implementation was carried out using AWS CloudFormation and YAML, following Infrastructure as Code principles to ensure maintainability and safe rollout. Collaboration with other contributors ensured proper integration and documentation, while the new configuration option preserved default behavior, supporting scalable and reliable CI workflows without introducing breaking changes or regressions.
