Worked on the gitlabhq/gitlab-runner repository to deliver a targeted security patch focused on improving the Security Release template. Addressed a gap by adding missing application security (AppSec) labels and updating the AppSec checklist instructions to align with current security requirements. The solution was implemented using Markdown and leveraged skills in DevOps, documentation, and security best practices. This change enhanced release governance by reducing the risk of mislabeled releases and improving auditability and compliance. The work featured clear commit messaging and documentation, ensuring straightforward future maintenance and traceability for audits, while minimizing risk to the existing release process.
