During November 2025, Sam Matthew upgraded authentication for Yelp Vault Clusters in the Yelp/paasta repository by migrating from LDAP to Okta-based two-factor authentication. This work focused on enhancing security and modernizing tooling, requiring updates to vault-tools and hvac libraries to support the new authentication flow. Sam used Python and DevOps practices to implement and validate the changes, ensuring compatibility with existing deployment pipelines. Comprehensive end-to-end testing and packaging validation confirmed the reliability of the upgrade, with all tests passing successfully. The project demonstrated depth in security engineering and careful integration with current infrastructure, though it addressed only one feature.
