Worked on the root-project/root repository to address a critical issue in the TRootBrowser graphical interface, focusing on the accurate rendering of non-ASCII filenames. Applied expertise in C and C++ to implement explicit UTF-8 decoding and introduced defensive checks, ensuring that filenames containing CJK and other non-Latin characters display correctly. This targeted bug fix improved the reliability of file listings and search functionality within the cross-platform GUI, aligning encoding handling with application manifest requirements. The work enhanced internationalization support and user experience, with a clear, traceable commit history that facilitates future maintenance and compatibility in the project’s graphical layer.
