Worked on the vllm-project/vllm-spyre repository to enhance cross-platform compatibility by refining Triton dependency management. Focused on build configuration and dependency management using TOML, the work involved making Triton optional on non-target platforms and preparing for its constrained reintroduction with version-specific requirements. This approach addressed integration issues, particularly on macOS, and reduced platform-specific build fragility. By removing and then reverting the removal of Triton from dependencies, the changes established a more flexible and maintainable dependency strategy. The efforts laid the groundwork for stable integration with related components, supporting future releases with a more robust and adaptable build process.
July 2025: Focused on stabilizing Triton-related dependencies to improve cross-platform compatibility and set up for a constrained reintroduction. Implemented making Triton optional on non-target platforms and prepared version-constraint plans to resolve macOS integration issues and related components. This work reduces platform-specific build fragility and establishes a maintainable dependency strategy for future releases.
