Developed and integrated CloudWatch Real User Monitoring (RUM) tools into the awslabs/mcp repository, enabling comprehensive app-monitor discovery, session and event exploration, and cross-service correlation with AWS X-Ray. Focused on backend development using Python, the work included refactoring the RUM tool for clarity, implementing robust error handling, and enhancing data integrity. Extensive automated testing was added, raising test coverage above 90 percent and ensuring reliability through consistent CI checks. Documentation and process improvements were made to support maintainability. This release provided end-to-end visibility into user experience and performance, surfacing SLO status and improving observability for cloud-based applications.
