During January 2025, Aho Chauwa focused on backend development and protocol implementation in the erlang/otp repository, addressing stability issues in DiameterURI handling. Working in Erlang, Aho enhanced network programming robustness by introducing default values for missing RFC fields, such as defaulting the port to 3868 and transport to TCP, to prevent decode crashes and encoding failures. These changes ensured compliance with RFC 6733 and RFC 3588, improving interoperability and reducing runtime incidents. The work demonstrated careful attention to RFC alignment and code traceability, resulting in more resilient DiameterAVP parsing and encoding, and contributing to smoother, more reliable system behavior.
