Wooseok Lee developed a temporary Shardy dialect roundtrip import pass for the tenstorrent/tt-xla repository, enabling roundtrip import from the Shardy dialect through MLIR to StableHLO. This solution provided a stopgap workflow for testing and validation while native Shardy support was still in development within OpenXLA. By leveraging C++ and applying expertise in compiler development and intermediate representation, Wooseok ensured the MLIR-based validation pipeline remained functional, reducing risk to the release schedule. The work demonstrated a practical approach to dialect integration, maintained codebase traceability, and prepared the project for a smooth transition to future OpenXLA Shardy support.
