
Wout Batsele developed and enhanced hardware asset management and device configuration for the Vertical-Farming-IB3/Plan-T repository over a two-month period. He established a version-controlled workflow for PCB asset documentation, enabling traceability and supporting future hardware integration. Using YAML for embedded systems configuration, Wout reconfigured the Plantenbak device—renamed to plantenbak-lade-1—by updating API encryption, OTA passwords, and adding outputs for fan, valve, and onboard LED with template switches. He refined soil moisture and current sensors, introduced a power consumption sensor, and improved device security and observability. The work demonstrated depth in IoT device management and embedded systems configuration.
