During April 2025, Xavier Cudder focused on security maintenance for the instructure/canvas-android repository, addressing vulnerabilities in core dependencies. He upgraded grpc-netty and netty-tcnative-boringssl-static, using Gradle to manage dependency versions and ensure seamless integration with existing build automation processes. This work remediated known CVEs without introducing user-facing API changes, preserving compatibility with the latest Canvas Android features. By aligning the project with organizational security standards, Xavier enhanced both the stability and security of the build pipeline. His efforts demonstrated a strong grasp of dependency management and build automation, delivering targeted improvements within a short engagement period.
