Worked on the crossoverJie/starrocks repository to deliver timezone-aware DateTime handling for Clickhouse, focusing on supporting Asia/Shanghai TIMESTAMP_WITH_TIMEZONE. Used Java and backend development skills to address a reading exception in the Clickhouse DateTime type, improving data reliability and correctness. Enhanced the integration by expanding test coverage for timezone-aware DateTime parsing, ensuring robust handling of regional timezones. Strengthened database management practices by updating data-paths and tests, which reduced potential data errors and improved analytics accuracy for Asia-based deployments. This work enabled more precise reporting and lowered support incidents by addressing critical timezone handling challenges in backend systems.
