Developed a Windows NRPT-based DNS Manager for the expressvpn/lightway repository, focusing on preventing DNS leaks and improving DNS resolution reliability for VPN users. Leveraging Rust for system and network programming, the solution integrated with Windows platform APIs to route all DNS queries through a configured resolver. The implementation included features for adding and removing NRPT rules and flushing the DNS cache, ensuring DNS settings persisted even after client crashes. By building on prior open-source work and aligning with existing code paths, the developer enhanced the security posture and privacy of Windows VPN clients, addressing a critical aspect of secure network connectivity.
