Worked on the pion/interceptor repository to enhance real-time media streaming reliability by delivering RFC3550-compliant RTP jitter calculation and timestamp handling. Addressed protocol accuracy by updating the jitter metric logic to correctly account for differences between RTP time units and wall clock time, ensuring alignment with industry standards. Introduced inboundLastArrivalRTP to track the RTP timestamp of the last packet arrival, improving observability for live streams. Added dedicated unit tests to validate the new jitter calculation, supporting better diagnostics and SLA adherence. Utilized Go and applied expertise in network protocols, performance optimization, and real-time communication to deliver these targeted improvements.
August 2025 monthly summary for the pion/interceptor project. Delivered RFC3550-compliant RTP jitter calculation and timestamp handling, addressing accuracy of jitter metrics and alignment with protocol standards. Implemented inboundLastArrivalRTP to store the RTP timestamp of the last arrival, and added a dedicated unit test to validate the updated jitter calculation. These changes improve reliability and observability for live media streams, supporting better diagnostics and SLA adherence.
