Worked on the open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java-instrumentation repository, focusing on backend development and observability for RocketMQ. Addressed a critical issue where ONEWAY RocketMQ messages were not properly traced, ensuring that spans are now correctly recorded, ended, and exported in ONEWAY mode. Utilized Java and unit testing to implement the bug fix and introduced an end-to-end test to validate ONEWAY message production and tracing, preventing future regressions. Targeted the rocketmq-client-4.8 instrumentation, enhancing reliability for users relying on ONEWAY messaging. The work demonstrated attention to detail in backend systems and contributed to more robust distributed tracing within the Java ecosystem.
