Yarin delivered a major upgrade to the Datadog Tracer within the temporalio/sdk-go repository, focusing on modernizing observability and aligning with the latest APM features. He migrated the codebase from dd-trace-go v1 to v2, updating span creation and context handling to leverage new APIs and patterns for more robust tracing. This work involved extensive API integration, backend development, and comprehensive test updates in Go to ensure reliability and compatibility. By removing deprecated APIs and unused compatibility helpers, Yarin reduced technical debt and maintenance overhead, resulting in improved developer productivity and a more reliable, future-proof tracing infrastructure.
