Yonghao developed the initial VWB Egress Monitoring API for the all-of-us/workbench repository, focusing on backend observability and safe feature rollout. He designed and implemented a new API interface, controller, and request schema using Java and YAML, integrating configuration management to support future monitoring and alerting. To enable controlled adoption, he introduced a feature flag system that allows enabling or disabling the new functionality while collecting observability metrics. Additionally, Yonghao addressed a minor cosmetic issue related to multi-zone launch messaging. The work established foundational scaffolding for future metrics, reflecting a methodical approach to platform readiness and risk management.
