Worked on enhancing the reliability and user experience of modal components in the mui/material-ui repository, focusing on front end development with React and TypeScript. Addressed a persistent bug by implementing fractional padding-right support within the modal scroll-lock logic, ensuring accurate handling of non-integer values in responsive layouts. Strengthened the scroll-lock mechanism to prevent layout shifts during window resizing, which improved consistency across devices and accessibility for users. Collaborated closely with another contributor to co-author the patch, delivering a more robust and accessible modal interface. The work directly reduced layout edge-cases and supported business goals for a polished, accessible UI.
