Worked on enhancing the mem0ai/mem0 repository by adding richer context support to the memory system. Developed an optional metadata parameter for both Memory.update and AsyncMemory.update methods, allowing additional context to be stored with each memory entry. This feature, implemented in Python with a focus on async programming and backend development, improves traceability and enables more effective search, analytics, and debugging. Comprehensive unit tests were updated and expanded to validate the new functionality, ensuring API compatibility and reliability. The work demonstrates a methodical approach to extending core backend features while maintaining robust test coverage and seamless integration with existing systems.
