Worked on the nextcloud/mail repository to enhance the reliability of phishing detection in backend systems. Addressed a critical bug by updating the link checking logic to validate for empty or malformed anchor text, preventing uninitialized string offset errors during phishing analysis. This PHP-based solution improved runtime stability and reduced user-facing incidents by ensuring that malformed or empty anchor tags no longer triggered errors. The approach focused on minimal, targeted changes with clear commit traceability, maintaining code quality while directly supporting business value. Demonstrated skills in backend development and phishing detection, contributing to a more robust and trustworthy email experience.
