Worked on the aws-mwaa/upstream-to-airflow repository to enhance the GCSToGCSOperator, focusing on improving data transfer safety and reliability. Developed a feature that ensures the operator respects the replace=False parameter by skipping existing destination objects during single-file copy operations. This approach involved implementing a destination existence check to prevent overwriting files, thereby reducing the risk of unintended data loss. Added comprehensive unit tests to validate the new behavior and confirm that no overwriting occurs when replace=False is set. The work leveraged Python for back end development and emphasized robust unit testing to maintain data integrity during cloud storage transfers.
