Worked on the Mole repository to enhance orphaned service cleanup for macOS systems, focusing on both reliability and safety. Developed a generic detection mechanism using shell scripting to identify orphaned LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents based on binary existence, replacing static lists and reducing false positives. Introduced a force-protect list to safeguard essential services and PrivilegedHelperTools, ensuring critical components like Docker and Homebrew services remain intact. Expanded the cleanup process to include orphaned container stubs within the App leftovers workflow, improving completeness without disrupting installed applications. Emphasized robust system administration practices, incorporating incremental removal logic and improved error visibility throughout the implementation.
