Over a two-month period, contributed targeted map infrastructure improvements to the mavlink/qgroundcontrol repository, focusing on Arctic and Norwegian mapping reliability. Addressed a critical Statkart API change by updating map provider URLs and argument handling, ensuring continued tile loading for users. Introduced a new Svalbard topographic map provider, integrating it into the existing map URL engine to expand coverage via the Norwegian Polar Institute. Additionally, resolved a Norwegian map display issue by enforcing PNG tile requests, stabilizing rendering across platforms. Work was implemented in C++ and JavaScript using Qt, emphasizing maintainability, extensibility, and robust field usability for mapping features.
