Worked on enhancing cluster provisioning and VPC management within the linode/cluster-api-provider-linode and linode/linode-cloud-controller-manager repositories. Focused on increasing provisioning determinism and expanding VPC capabilities, the work included documenting environment variables for machine counts to clarify clusterctl behavior and guide operators. Developed features for subnet naming and identification, introducing a subnet-names flag and backend support for subnet ID lookups and IP filtering. Leveraged Go, Helm, and Kubernetes to refactor configuration layers, improve error logging, and implement unit tests. These changes enabled more granular network control, reduced misconfigurations, and improved maintainability for cloud infrastructure and operator onboarding processes.
