Worked on the TUM-DSE/doctor-cluster-config repository to deliver targeted improvements in system and network configuration. Focused on enhancing security by performing routine maintenance of Xrdp account data, updating encrypted password hashes and timestamps to ensure accurate and secure user access records. Improved virtual machine connectivity by enabling the doctor-bridge network across multiple hosts, updating Nix configuration files to support reliable cross-host networking. Leveraged skills in configuration management and network configuration, using Nix and YAML to implement changes. Established a repeatable workflow for secure, auditable updates, reducing operational risk and supporting ongoing maintenance of the cluster’s infrastructure.
November 2024 monthly summary for TUM-DSE/doctor-cluster-config: delivered security-focused maintenance for Xrdp account data and improved VM networking connectivity. The work focused on two main areas: (1) routine maintenance of Xrdp account information to enhance security and accuracy of user access data for chenjiyang, and (2) enabling the doctor-bridge network for VMs to improve connectivity across hosts amy, clara, and vislor. These changes were implemented through targeted commits, establishing a pattern for repeatable maintenance and reducing operational risk while improving system reliability.
