Developed an elevator control system with multi-height presets and lowering functionality for the 1334Robotics/2025Reefscape repository, focusing on precise and repeatable robot positioning. Leveraging Java and embedded systems expertise, the work introduced new commands and constants for four preset levels, integrated operator input handling, and enabled safe home positioning at zero. The developer refactored the command architecture to improve maintainability and extensibility, updating mappings and SmartDashboard UI for real-time operator feedback. This approach emphasized subsystem integration and constants management, resulting in a more robust, user-friendly control system that supports faster onboarding and future feature expansion within the robotics codebase.
February 2025: Delivered Elevator Control System with Presets and Lowering in 1334Robotics/2025Reefscape. Implemented multi-height presets (L1-L4) with new commands and constants, integrated with operator inputs, and added lowering functionality to position 0. Performed a substantial refactor of elevator commands to enhance maintainability, and updated mappings/UI and SmartDashboard entries to reflect new capabilities. This work focuses on repeatable positioning, safer home positioning, and clearer operator feedback, enabling faster onboarding and future extensibility.
