Worked on the 1334Robotics/2025Reefscape repository to deliver three automation features focused on subsystem reliability and maintainability. Developed and integrated Elevator, Mailbox, and LaserCan components using Java and Gradle, introducing new command-based controls, goto positioning, and force feed capabilities. Enhanced observability by enabling VisualVM-based remote profiling and debugging through JMX and Gradle configuration, supporting memory and CPU analysis. Simplified the codebase by removing the SolenoidSubsystem and performing targeted code refactoring to reduce bloat and maintenance overhead. These efforts resulted in a cleaner architecture, improved subsystem stability, and more efficient development and operational workflows for robotics programming.
March 2025 performance summary for 1334Robotics/2025Reefscape focused on delivering robust automation features, improving observability, and simplifying the subsystem architecture to drive reliability and maintainability. Key features delivered include: Elevator, Mailbox, and LaserCan integration with new commands, goto positions, and force feed, plus cleanup to reduce bloat; two additional LaserCan units added to MailboxHandler and ongoing testing to validate operation. VisualVM-based remote profiling and debugging support was introduced to enable memory/CPU profiling via JMX (Gradle configuration and debugging utilities), with iterative refinements to the integration. The SolenoidSubsystem was removed to simplify the codebase and reduce maintenance overhead. Several targeted code cleanups and small issue fixes improved stability and readability, contributing to faster issue resolution and more predictable performance. Overall impact: more reliable automation, improved observability, and a cleaner architecture that supports faster iteration and lower operational risk, translating to tangible business value in uptime and maintenance efficiency.
